Future of plasma etching for microelectronics: Challenges and opportunities

Plasma etching is an essential semiconductor manufacturing technology required to enable the current microelectronics industry. Along with lithographic patterning, thin-film formation methods, and others, plasma etching has dynamically evolved to meet the exponentially growing demands of the microelectronics industry that enables modern society.

Monitoring of rapid thermal anneal with secondary ion mass spectrometry

Accurate monitoring and, thus, control of rapid thermal anneal (RTA) are critical for manufacturing semiconductor devices. In this work, we developed a method by using secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) aimed to improve long-term repeatability in monitoring RTA.

Highly compressible and thermal insulative conductive MXene/PEDOT:PSS@melamine foam for promising wearable piezoresistive sensor

With the rapid development of intelligent wearable electronic devices, highly compressible porous piezoresistive sensors are in imperative demand. However, the robustness of conductive coating that affects the stability and durability of porous piezoresistive sensors still needs to be solved urgently. In this work, a flexible conductive MXene/PEDOT:PSS@Melamine foam (MPMF) piezoresistive sensor was designed and prepared by simply dip-coating it in MXene and PEDOT:PSS mixed solution.

Giant second harmonic generation in etch-less lithium niobate thin film

In this paper, we proposed and numerically demonstrated a giant enhancement up to in both forward and backward propagation of the second harmonic generation by combining the high-quality factor cavities of the bound states in the continuum and the excellent nonlinear optical crystal of lithium niobate.

Bio-inspired synaptic behavior simulation in thin-film transistors based on molybdenum disulfide

Synaptic behavior simulation in transistors based on MoS₂ has been reported. MoS₂ was utilized as the active layer to prepare ambipolar thin-film transistors. The excitatory postsynaptic current phenomenon was simulated, observing a gradual voltage decay following the removal of applied pulses, ultimately resulting in a response current slightly higher than the initial current.

Large magnetoresistance and temperature-driven spin filter effect in spin valve based on half Heusler alloy

High spin-injection-efficiency (SIE) and thermal spin-filter-effect (SFE) from a magnetic material to a barrier material are crucial to the high performance of a spintronic device and a spin caloritronic device, respectively. By performing a nonequilibrium Green’s function combined with first-principles calculations, we study the voltage-driven and temperature-driven spin transport properties of a half Heusler alloy RuCrAs based spin valve with different atom-terminated interfaces.
