Licensing Options

We know that academic institutions, research institutes, government organizations and corporations come in all shapes and sizes. That’s why AIP Publishing offers a range of content licensing options to best fit your situation.

Single Site License

Under the terms of a single-site license, access is granted to authorized users at a localized site (one geographic location) that is under a single administration. No access from remote campuses or sites and no consortia or other forms of subscription sharing are allowed under this license.

Download a sample of the single site license agreement.

Multisite License

Under the terms of a multisite license, access is granted to authorized users at multiple sites within an institution as specified in the agreement. A multisite fee applies; cross-site access fees may apply as well.

Consortia License

AIP Publishing’s consortia licensing model takes subscription spend and participating institution size into account. The following types of consortia are eligible:

  • Geographic Consortia – Organizations in a specific geographic region or country
  • Shared Parent Consortia – University systems that purchase for all their libraries, major corporations that buy from one location for global access, or government departments for use by their sub-departments
  • Collective Negotiation Consortia – Groups formed to negotiate together as a single group but who may act individually in their purchasing decisions

Access Fees

Consortia members who do not subscribe to a specific title may pay an access fee to gain access to the current content of a journal that another member of the consortia has subscribed to. Cross-site access fees are a standard component of consortia agreements. Post cancellation rights do not apply to content licensed via access fees.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

AIP Publishing-prepared electronic article files may be transmitted by mail, fax, or secure, prevailing technology to another institution for non-commercial purposes (as may be best determined by the lending library). The supply of such copies must conform to legal guidelines or similar restrictions associated with ILL.
