One Hundred Years of Giesekus
On the occasion of the centennial of Prof. Dr. Hanswalter Giesekus in 2022, we invite contributions dealing with his phenomenological model and other aspects of his work. He was infected with the “rheology virus” at Bayer A.G. through contact with his colleague Dr. J. Pawlowski, and initially pursued rheology more as a hobby until he became a professor of fluid mechanics at the TU Dortmund in 1970. Hanswalter made important contributions to both theoretical and experimental rheology and is among the most important early rheologists. A major development, which is still much used today in applications, is the Giesekus model.
