Editor-in-Chief, Applied Physics Letters
AIP Publishing is seeking the next Editor-in-Chief for Applied Physics Letters (APL).
Candidates should be highly regarded scientists attuned to the expanding and global field of applied physics, and bring a strategic and innovative vision to maintain and build on the prestige and influence of Applied Physics Letters. The successful candidate will prioritize author-centric practices to best serve the needs of a diverse applied physics community, rigorously uphold ethical standards, and position the journal to publish in emerging areas of science. The candidate will possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills and will work collaboratively with a committed editorial team of scientific experts and the Publisher, to translate that strategy into a vibrant editorial program. This is an exciting and challenging position at a time of change in scholarly publications and communication.
There are no geographic limitations to the Editor’s location. The initial appointment is for five years with the possibility of renewal. The successful candidate will be paid an honorarium commensurate with the roles and responsibilities of the position.
The search committee welcomes either applications or nominations of potential candidates. A nomination can be a short note suggesting a suitable candidate. An application should consist of a Curriculum Vitae and a statement of the applicant’s vision and future aspirations for Applied Physics Letters. The statement should be no more than 3 pages and should include a few paragraphs on your leadership experience and scientific accomplishments that make you uniquely qualified for the Editor-in-Chief position.

The successful candidate will be a visible presence in the community and will have strong leadership and interpersonal skills. They will work collaboratively with a committed editorial team and the Publisher, to translate that strategy into a vibrant editorial program. The candidate will have a vision geared toward journal growth, adopting a strategic, author-centric view will be important to maintain the high standard of the journal while expanding coverage to capture emerging areas. This is an exciting and challenging position at a time of change in scholarly publications and communication.

The candidate will work collaboratively with a broad editorial team and the Publisher to enact a community- and author-centric editorial program. They will bring a sharp vision for the journal, a passion for excellence, and demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

An application should consist of a Curriculum Vitae and a statement of the applicant’s vision and future aspirations for JRSE.
