AIP Publishing Policy for NIH/PubMed Central
In compliance with U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) policy, AIP Publishing automatically deposits any journal article published in a Gold Open Access journal that reports NIH-funded research with the National Library of Medicine’s PubMed Central (PMC) online repository.
Upon publication, AIP Publishing will deposit the article with PMC in its final, published form along with its associated metadata and provide authors with the PMCID number once it has been assigned. We will notify PMC that the article can be posted upon publication and transmission. Proper credit must be given to the original publication, including the full citation for the published paper and a link to AIP Publishing’s Version of Record.
For authors publishing in journals that are hybrid or subscription-access only, authors can comply with the NIH Public Access Policy by submitting the Accepted Author Manuscript directly to the NIH Manuscript Submission System (NIHMS). Authors may deposit the Accepted Author Manuscript upon acceptance and should include a full citation that links to the Version of Record via the DOI so readers can easily access the most up-to-date version of the manuscript.
AIP Publishing is committed to open science and supports authors in meeting funder mandates via Green Open Access. However, in order to maintain value to our institutional partners, we do not permit deposition of articles into repositories such as PMC unless the article was published Open Access.
Please contact AIP Publishing’s Office of Rights & Permissions (rights@aip.org) with any questions.
