Papers from the 5th International Conference on Data-Driven Plasma Science
This Special Topic covers the latest development of data-driven plasma science presented or related to the presentations at the 5th International Conference on Data-Driven Plasma Science (ICDDPS-5), which was held at the University of California, Berkeley, from August 12 to 16, 2024. Plasma science often involves extremely complex systems, an understanding of which may not be achieved based on the first-principle-based analysis only. Data-driven analyses offer alternative approaches to a better understanding of such complex systems, ranging from nuclear fusion and space plasmas to industrial plasma applications.
Topics covered include, but are not limited to:
- AI/ML/data science application to plasma processing
- AI/ML/data science application to fusion plasmas
- AI/ML/data science application to plasma facing materials
- AI/ML/data science application to other plasma science and technologies
- AI/ML/data science application to high performance computing (HPC)
- AI/ML/data science application to environmental studies
- AI/ML algorithms and software/hardware development
- AI/ML/data science and their applications in general
- Visualization and image processing for plasmas
- System control, virtual metrology, and data-enhanced instrumentation
- Large data management
- Physical and chemical data and database
Submission Instructions
Manuscripts considered for publication in Physics of Plasmas are expected to meet the journal’s standard of acceptance: to report on original and timely results that significantly advance understanding in observational, computational, and theoretical plasma physics. Manuscripts will publish in an issue immediately after acceptance and form a collection with Physics of Fluids papers for this Special Topic. For more information on the journal’s editorial policies: https://pubs.aip.org/aip/pop/pages/Policies
Manuscripts must be submitted through the Physics of Plasmas online submission system (PXP). Please select the Special Topic “Papers from the 5th International Conference on Data-Driven Plasma Science” to submit your manuscript for consideration in this Special Topic.
