Papers from the 2024 Sherwood Fusion Theory Conference
The annual International Sherwood Fusion Theory Conference disseminates leading theoretical and computational research in plasma science and engineering for the development of controlled nuclear fusion as a source of environmentally benign power. It has been held for more than 60 years, dating to the earliest days of research into peaceful uses of fusion energy. The Conference is conducted in accordance with the International Council of Scientific Unions guidelines on free circulation of scientists.
This special collection will provide a record of the scientific and engineering advances that were presented at the 2024 conference. This will be the third in a series that started with the 2021-2022 Sherwood Special Collection. Like last year’s special collection, the 2024 edition will have an open invitation to all conference presenters to submit contributed papers, in addition to invitations to the invited, review, and student-award presenters.
Topics covered include, but are not limited to:
- Plasma equilibrium, stability, and transport
- Physics of the plasma edge and divertor region, including plasma surface interactions
- Plasma production, fueling, heating, and current drive
- Analytic and computational methods for modeling plasmas
- Integrated modeling of fusion plasmas
