Microfluidics for Biofluid Analysis: From Design to Application
Submission Deadline: January 31, 2025Contribute to this Special Topic
Biofluids often contain a variety of biochemical species that can be utilized to assess the status of human health. Microfluidics, with its capability to precisely manipulate tiny volumes of fluid, offers a new tool for biofluid analysis. Its application in biofluid analysis enables a high-throughput, low-sample/reagent-consumption, and highly efficient method of acquiring information related to human body for early diagnostics of disorders and diseases. Recent advances in paper- and thread-based microfluidic devices broaden the potential uses of microfluidics in wearable biofluid sensing. This Special Topic features research/review articles on the design and applications of microfluidics for biofluid analysis.
Topics covered include, but are not limited to:
- Microfluidic device for biofluid harvesting
- Design and fabrication of lab-on-body system
- Microfluidics for biomarker detection in biofluid
- Microfluidic system for cell handling and tissue/organ modeling
- Application of microfluidics in diagnostics
- Materials for microfluidics
