Selected Papers from the AVS 71 Quantum Mini-Symposium 2025

Submission Deadline: November 5, 2025Contribute to this Special Topic

Decorative imageThis Special Issue aims to collect select contributions from the Mini Symposium on Quantum Science & Technology at the AVS 71st International Symposium (September 21–26, 2025) in Charlotte, North Carolina. Held during UNESCO’s International Year of Quantum, the symposium highlights advances across quantum science and technology, including materials and surface engineering for quantum devices, diverse qubit modalities (e.g., superconducting, spin, ion trap), and quantum sensing technologies such as NV centers, TES, and SNSPDs. The issue will also feature work on quantum simulations, quantum-inspired computing, and machine learning applications, along with studies addressing integration and manufacturing challenges. Interdisciplinary contributions connecting quantum science with vacuum technology, phononics, and electronic materials are welcome, as are papers highlighting educational efforts and research at quantum user facilities. Submissions are invited from academia, industry, government, and nonprofit sectors to showcase impactful developments shaping the future of quantum science.

Topics covered include, but are not limited to:

  • Materials and Surface Engineering for Quantum
  • Qubit Modalities in Quantum Computing
  • Quantum Sensing and Metrology
  • Systems, devices, and manufacturing technologies
  • Quantum Education and User Facilities
  • Quantum Simulations and Technologies
  • Interdisciplinary Quantum Applications
