Brillouin Scattering and Optomechanics
This special issue of APL Photonics explores the forefront of Brillouin scattering and optomechanics research, highlighting recent advancements and emerging trends. We welcome contributions in experimental and theoretical studies, novel applications, and technological developments. Topics include but are not limited to Brillouin spectroscopy, sensing, microscopy, and optical signal processing, quantum, and cavity optomechanics as well as microwave photonic applications. The goal is to foster a comprehensive understanding of the interplay between light and mechanical waves, spanning from waveguides and resonators to the quantum realm, highlighting the convergence of Brillouin and optomechanics research in tailored chip-scale structures.
Topics covered include, but are not limited to:
- Photon-phonon waveguides, resonators, crystals, and topological structures
- Brillouin-based microwave photonics and optical signal processing
- Brillouin integrated photonic circuits
- Brillouin interactions in optical fiber
- Distributed, Brillouin, and optomechanical sensing
- Quantum optomechanics
- Brillouin microscopy
- Optomechanical cooling and entanglement
- Photon-phonon interactions
- Novel devices and phenomena
