APL Computational Physics will serve as a dynamic open access platform for the rapidly evolving landscape of physics where computational techniques are at the core of new developments in research. The journal provides a dedicated outlet for a wide range of computational models, methods, and simulations that span the diverse domains of physics. The journal aims to emphasize interdisciplinary approaches and the integration of computational advancements to provide insights into complex physical challenges.
APL Computational Physics will publish research that showcases the transformative impact of computation across all areas of physics, including, but not limited to:
- Computational techniques and methodologies: Broad coverage of computational methods, models, techniques, and simulations.
- Multiscale and multiphysics modeling: Techniques that bridge scales and physical regimes, addressing nonlinear dynamics, coupled systems, and cross-domain applications.
- Algorithmic and numerical advances: Innovations in algorithms, numerical methods, and software that drive new capabilities in simulation, optimization, and efficiency in solving physical problems.
- Big data and predictive computation: Leveraging AI, machine learning, and data-driven approaches to enhance physical models, explore emergent behaviors, and provide new insights into existing theories.
- Computational simulations in physical sciences: Simulations addressing complex environments and conditions, such as extreme states of matter, nanoscale phenomena, and high-energy physics.
- Validation, verification, and uncertainty quantification (VVUQ): Rigorous validation and verification processes, along with uncertainty quantification of computational models, tools, and software for complex physical systems.
- Cross-Disciplinary methods and applications: Integration of computational physics techniques in fields such as biophysics, environmental science, materials science, astronomy, and engineering.
- High-Performance computation: Advanced computational strategies supporting high-throughput experimentation and large-scale simulation studies.
- Experimental design and computational support: Enhancing experimental design, execution, and interpretation through computational modeling.
By focusing on these broad and interconnected areas, APL Computational Physics will establish itself as a leading comprehensive platform for groundbreaking research, fostering innovation and collaboration within the global computational physics community.
The journal will offer article types that best serve the computational physics community, and a final list will be determined following consultation with the Editor-in-Chief.
Editor-in-Chief Call for Applications
AIP Publishing is seeking an Editor-in-Chief for APL Computational Physics, a new open access journal.
Ideal candidates will:

- Have proven expertise and broad interest in the research areas covered by the journal’s scope.
- Demonstrate the ability to build a prestigious and influential journal.
- Bring innovative vision and a passion for excellence, along with strong interpersonal skills.
- Develop a strategic journal plan with a global perspective.
- Work collaboratively with a committed editorial team and AIP Publishing to execute that strategy.
There are no geographic restrictions for this position. The initial appointment is for five years with the possibility of renewal after review. The Editor will be paid an honorarium commensurate with the roles and responsibilities of the position.

The statement should also cover your leadership experience, community involvement, and scientific accomplishments that make you an exceptional candidate for the Editor-in-Chief position.
