Breaking barriers to open research is at the core of our mission. That’s why we’ve created AIP Fusion: a single-fee, single-agreement model that delivers unlimited reading and publishing across all AIP Publishing and partner journals. It’s a powerful step in making physics research more open, fair, and impactful for the researchers and global community we serve.
AIP Fusion will be initially piloted with a select group of institutions and library consortia in 2026, responding to the specific needs of partners across Europe, the UK, and North America.
Our open science approach extends across our entire portfolio—from Gold and Diamond OA journals to Author Select options and agreements that support both reading access and open access publishing. We empower authors and institutions through transparent policies, streamlined workflows, and sustainable paths to compliance and access.

What Is AIP Fusion?
AIP Fusion is an all-inclusive services agreement, co-created with libraries and consortia, to simplify open access publishing and advance open science. Iterating on existing models to meet regional needs, AIP Fusion eliminates complex, confusing capped RAP deals in favor of an unlimited, all-in-one approach to all AIPP services.
Under one annual fee, your institution receives:
- Unlimited reading access to our portfolio of 40+ AIP Publishing and partner journals, from 1999 to present (frontfile)—including new titles launched during the term.
- Unlimited open access publishing in any AIPP or partner journal—including gold OA titles—without APCs or article caps.
- Funder compliance, including Plan S, NIH, Wellcome Trust.
- A single, predictable annual fee that reflects both reading and publishing behavior.

How It Works
- One Agreement
An institution- or consortia-wide agreement provides access to all AIPP services. The annual fee is based on your institution’s past usage, publishing volume, legacy APC and subscription spend, and AIPP’s 2024 cost-per-article. - Automated Author Capture
Eligible authors are automatically identified at submission—no manual workflows or approvals needed. - Comprehensive Reporting
