Protein Corona at Nanointerfaces

Submission Deadline: July 6, 2020View Collection

The Biointerphases Special Topic Collection on Protein Corona at Nanointerfaces focuses on the formation of the protein and biomolecular corona at colloidal interfaces and nanoparticle surfaces. The collection will include technological and methodological advances, quantitative and qualitative characterization data, and applications of proteins and other biomolecules interacting with nanomaterial surfaces. Topics will range from understanding basic properties of proteins up to controlling their behavior in a biological environment.

Topics covered include, but are not limited to:

  • Advancements of techniques for identification and characterization of proteins/biomolecules
  • Comparative studies focused on experimental methodologies
  • New insights about protein structural changes associated to nano-interfaces
  • Surface functionalization for controlled protein/biomolecule adsorption
  • Protein modification approaches for interfacial applications
  • Physico-chemical insights on general protein adsorption trends related to nano-material properties
  • Correlation of the protein/biomolecule corona of nanomaterials with cellular uptake, toxicity, function, etc.
  • Theoretical modeling of proteins at nano-interfaces
  • Review articles
  • Tutorials
