Orbitronics: New Trends in Orbital Transport and Dynamics

Submission Deadline: October 31, 2025Contribute to this Special Topic

Orbitronics devices promise several benefits as compared to conventional charge and spin electronics thanks to fundamental properties of dynamical orbital processes in solids. The goal of this collection is to publish cutting-edge experimental and theoretical research in various aspects of orbital transport and dynamics that provide valuable novel insights contributing to the advancement of orbitronics. The scope of the collection embraces diverse topics ranging from novel advances in current-induced orbital magnetism and magnetization manipulation, to ultrafast orbital dynamics, and orbital excitations.

Topics covered include, but are not limited to:

  • Orbital Hall and Orbital Edelstein Effect
  • Orbital torques
  • Ultrafast orbital dynamics
  • Orbital magnetism of excitations
  • Orbital prospects of chiral molecules and materials
  • Orbitronics with 2D materials
