Atomtronics
This Focus Issue captures the state of the art in atomtronics, a quantum technology that exploits coherently manipulated ultracold matter in networks of diverse architectures. The collection spans foundational theoretical and experimental advances, emerging physical platforms, and pathways toward real-world applications. Topics include out-of-equilibrium dynamics, superfluids and supersolids, impurities, quantum matter, and systems based on Rydberg atoms. Particular emphasis is placed on micrometric atomic circuits—such as those employing Josephson junctions—as well as quantum interferometry and sensing, thereby bridging fundamental research and application. As such, it aims to provide a comprehensive roadmap for researchers exploring the next frontier of matter-wave circuits and atom-based quantum technology.
This issue is dedicated to the legacy of Sir Anthony J. Leggett and his profound contributions to the field.
