Festschrift in honor of Hajime Tanaka: Soft and Liquid Matter Physics
Submission Deadline: August 31, 2026Contribute to this Special Topic
Hajime Tanaka is the rare kind of scientist who can masterfully combine experiments, simulations, and theory to tackle deep scientific questions. The scope of his research spans every corner of Soft Matter, from molecular liquids such as water to biomolecules, colloids, and polymers. His name is attached to original and influential ideas including viscoelastic phase separation, fluid–particle dynamics, two-state models of liquids, and medium-range crystalline order, to name a few. Through his mentorship and his openness to collaboration, he has fostered a worldwide network of researchers who continue to grow under his influence. This special issue proudly celebrates the extraordinary impact of Tanaka-sensei.Topics covered include, but are not limited to:
- Soft Matter
- Molecular Liquids
- Biomolecules
- Colloids
- Polymers
- Viscoelastic phase separation
- Fluid-particle dynamics
