MELVILLE, N.Y., March 25, 2024 — AIP Publishing is excited to announce it has signed a three-year Read and Publish agreement with Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. The agreement, facilitated by Accucoms, spans from 2024 through 2026 and provides Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile with access to 29 of AIP Publishing’s titles — as well as the right to publish in 27 AIP Publishing titles without incurring article processing charges (APCs).
Established in 1888, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile is widely recognized as one of Latin America’s greatest universities. Through this agreement, AIP Publishing demonstrates its commitment to their vibrant and active research community.
“AIP Publishing believes first and foremost in improving access to scientific advancement across the globe, and our Read and Publish agreement with Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile is one more example of that dedication,” said Dr. Penelope Lewis, Chief Publishing Officer at AIP Publishing. “We look forward to working with the university for years to come.”
“The Pontifical Catholic University of Chile has signed this transformative agreement to move towards an open access model for the academic production of our researchers,” said Marcela Rivera, Deputy Director of Information Resources and Archives of the Library System of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. “As a result of this agreement, their research results can be published in journals of recognized international prestige for free; this is because the University has covered the publication costs through this agreement.”
“We hope that, with this, we can obtain evidence that supports the expected benefits of these agreements, that is, increasing the visibility of publications, increasing the number of citations, expanding access to the community in general, and ensuring that authors maintain their copyright; among others, to seek new agreements in the future and/or evaluate those already signed,” Rivera added.
“I’m happy to see Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, one of the top academic institutions in Chile and South America and long-time subscriber to AIP Journals, make the move from a regular subscription to a Read & Publish agreement with AIP Publishing for 2024,” said Anouk Snijders, Commercial Manager Latin America at Accucoms. “PUC is one of the first institutions in Chile signing this type of agreement, and I’m proud to have collaborated in this process to ensure PUC Chile’s research community has access to both AIP content and the opportunity of publishing OA articles in AIP Journals.
