AIP Publishing announced today that Dr. Jason Wilde, Chief Publishing Officer, has decided to leave his position and return to the UK. “It’s been very rewarding to help AIP Publishing grow as a digital enterprise and to serve the physical sciences community,” Wilde commented. “But the coronavirus pandemic has shifted our family’s priorities, and after six years in the US we have decided to return home so that we can spend more time with our aging parents/grandparents.”
Wilde joined AIP Publishing in 2014 after a successful publishing career at Nature Publishing Group. At AIP Publishing, he led the publishing strategy to advance open science through the creation of new open access journals and introduction of transformative Read & Publish agreements, revitalized the journal brands and the Scitation platform, and launched new products including AIP Publishing Books and a portfolio of high impact review journals. Wilde established robust systems, workflows and services to support authors and publishing partners during his tenure, and he leaves AIP Publishing well positioned to serve the physical sciences community into the future.
Alix Vance, CEO of AIP Publishing, said: “Jason has been a driving force behind a number of critical strategic initiatives that broadened our product range and modernized our internal operations which made AIP Publishing an even more attractive partner for authors and readers. We owe him an enormous debt of gratitude and wish him well as he moves on to new challenges.”
Wilde’s last day is November 30th. To fill the gap created by his departure, AIP Publishing plans to create a new role to lead the organization’s publishing division.
