MELVILLE, N.Y., May 6, 2025 — AIP Publishing announced today that André Anders, Professor Emeritus of Applied Physics (W3) at Leipzig University, Leipzig, Germany, and the former Director/CEO (“Vorstand”) of the Leibniz Institute of Surface Engineering (IOM), Leipzig, Germany (2017–2025), has been named interim editor-in-chief of Physics of Fluids. Dr. Anders succeeds Dr. Alan Jeffrey Giacomin, who served as editor-in-chief from 2015 through April 2025.
Dr. Anders has over three decades of experience in applied physics, particularly in plasma physics and materials science. He has been deeply involved in scientific publishing — not only as the author of more than 350 journal publications and three books, but also through service on editorial boards. Most notably, he was associate editor (2009–2014) and editor-in-chief (2014–2023) of the Journal of Applied Physics.
AIP Publishing has begun the search for a new Physics of Fluids editor-in-chief and remains dedicated to the research community that relies upon Physics of Fluids to publish the most-read articles within the fluidics field.
