Yijing Yan Festschrift

Submission Deadline: August 31, 2025Contribute to this Special Topic

Yijing Yan is a professor in the Department of Chemical Physics at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), renowned for his work in quantum dynamics in condensed phases. He began his career developing theories for ultrafast nonlinear spectroscopy and coherent control of molecular processes using femtosecond lasers. His subsequent research on non-Markovian quantum master equations has gained significant recognition in open system quantum dynamics. Over the past two decades, he has focused on creating novel methodologies and algorithms for quantum dissipative systems, especially those involving fermionic baths. These methods have been widely applied in modeling charge and spin transport in nanostructures and in quantum thermodynamics.

Prof. Yan is committed to promoting academic exchanges between China and the U.S., stemming from his experiences in the early 1980s as a participant in the Chemistry Graduate Program. Since joining Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in 1994, he has mentored many young Chinese scientists.

This special issue celebrates Prof. Yijing Yan on his 70th birthday, honoring his substantial contributions to quantum dynamics and theoretical chemistry. It will showcase advancements in chemical dynamics, quantum dynamics theory and methods, ultrafast nonlinear spectroscopy, quantum transport, and quantum statistical mechanics, reflecting his lasting impact on these fields.
