Overall accountability for the development and execution of AIP Publishing's global sales strategy resulting in an increase in revenue; including growth from existing markets and new markets as well as developing effective channel strategies for each market and customer segment and product type.
Explore the use of emerging technologies and data (both structured and unstructured) to create more personalized and effective products and services. Assist in discovering methods to use machine learning algorithms, natural language processing, and the tools of data science to improve the means in which scientists discover and use scientific information.
Provide pre and post sales and customer support for all of AIP's licensed and un-licensed products. Handle inbound customer service inquiries which may include interviewing prospective sales opportunities, upsell of additional products, identifying potential sales leads and forwarding those leads to the appropriate sales representative. Investigate all member and non-member subscription inquiries including online access issues, e-commerce renewals, payment verifications and IP maintenance. Document all communications in the appropriate communications tracking system for analysis.
Ensure the success of a select group of AIP Publishing journals. This includes working with journal editors to define editorial direction and develop content as well as performing research and analysis in support of strategic objectives. Monitor and analyze journal metrics and measure progress towards targets as well as coordinate editorial input to marketing efforts that will ensure increased journal visibility. Collaborate closely with Marketing to identify and align with the target audience and refine the marketing message to that audience. Gather and prioritize product and customer requirements through market research. This requires working closely with academic editors and researchers in the community, representing the journal to all external stakeholders.
This position also includes responsibility for ensuring that development efforts support the overall strategies and goals of the Publisher’s Office and for working with internal business units to align activities to strategic objectives. Candidate performance will be measured against each product’s success using various metrics.
Maintain financial information and support the accounting operations of AIP Publishing (“AIPP”). Assist with the monthly closing process, financial analysis, forecasting, planning and budgeting. Maintain General Ledger accounts. Responsible for revenue recognition and analysis, balance sheet integrity and preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations, and monitoring internal controls and policies and procedures. Prepare and process journal entries for posting. Provide ad hoc reports as needed.
Assist in the development of strategic sales plans for AIP Publishing LLC, provide coaching and development to sales staff and monitor actual sales performance against sales targets and objectives. This person will have the drive and motivation to identify and develop sales opportunities with new and existing customers in his or her region of the globe. He or she will be a motivated, energetic individual who will focus on developing and maintaining healthy, positive customer and consortium relationships, while providing vital customer feedback to internal AIP Publishing LLC departments. With an impressive track record of delivering sales growth, the successful candidate will also be responsible for influencing and managing sales strategy, working cooperatively with the Marketing department to plan campaigns, attend exhibits, visit customer sites and coordinate support activities with Customer Service staff.

Assist the Sales Support Manager and Sales Team with the administration of sales. Prepare license agreements and monitor compliance with license guidelines. Provide support and contribute to the overall work and responsibilities of the Institutional Sales Department.
