ORCID, the global non-profit dedicated to ensuring all who participate in scientific research and scholarship are uniquely and universally identified and recognized for their contributions, has announced the establishment of the Global Participation Program (GPP) — an initiative aimed at improving equity of access to global research infrastructure.
AIP Publishing is among the institutions who helped make this launch possible by demonstrating their commitment to ORCID’s mission through the forgiving of ORCID’s original start-up loans. That commitment and continued partnership will in turn fund the establishment of ORCID’s Global Participation Fund and Membership Equity Program, the two key pieces of the GPP.
“Persistent identifiers are essential to making the infrastructure for digital scholarly communications work,” said Alix Vance, CEO of AIP Publishing. “ORCID IDs ensure that authors are correctly attributed for their contributions. AIP Publishing’s mission is to empower researchers and break barriers to open, equitable research communication. ORCID’s Global Participation Program helps us advance those objectives.”
