Melville, NY, November 11, 2025 — AIP Publishing (AIPP) is pleased to announce a new publishing partnership with Hebei University of Technology to develop Harmonics and Scattering (HAS), an international, peer-reviewed diamond open access journal dedicated to advancing cutting-edge research in harmonics and scattering technologies.
The journal will open for submissions in December 2025, with its first issue scheduled for publication in March 2026.
Advancing the Science of Harmonics and Scattering
Harmonics and Scattering will serve as a comprehensive platform for researchers working across optics, photonics, materials science, and applied physics, bridging the gap between fundamental physical sciences and practical technological applications.
The journal will publish original research articles and reviews in areas such as:
- Harmonic generation and propagation
- Light, electron, and particle scattering
- Nonlinear optical phenomena and technology
- Quantum and classical models of harmonic generation
- Scattering techniques for material characterization
- Harmonic and scattering materials
- Optical enhancement technologies
- Frequency conversion and mixing
- Applications and industrial implementations of harmonic and scattering technologies
As a diamond open access publication, HAS will be freely available to readers worldwide, with no article processing charges (APCs) for authors—ensuring that groundbreaking research can be disseminated without barriers.
Leadership and Vision
Harmonics and Scattering will be led by Professor Zhiwei Lü, Director of the Center for Advanced Laser Technology (CALT) at Hebei University of Technology, Deputy Director of the Laser Professional Committee of the Chinese Optical Society.
In his introductory editorial, Professor Lü outlined the journal’s vision for advancing light science and fostering global collaboration:
“At a time when the frontiers of light science are expanding at an unprecedented pace, Harmonics and Scattering aspires to serve as a leading platform for publishing pioneering research that extends the boundaries of fundamental understanding and drives transformative real-world impact,” said Prof. Lü.
“We warmly invite researchers, engineers, and practitioners worldwide—whether exploring theoretical frontiers, pushing experimental boundaries, or translating discoveries into real-world applications—to contribute your best work to Harmonics and Scattering.”
A Mission-Driven Partnership
The development of Harmonics and Scattering underscores AIP Publishing’s commitment to global scientific collaboration, open access, and the equitable dissemination of knowledge. By partnering with Hebei University of Technology, AIPP is expanding its network of international partnerships that empower researchers to share their work without financial or geographical barriers.
“This partnership reflects AIP Publishing’s mission to connect science and communities worldwide,” said Penelope Lewis, Chief Publishing Officer, AIP Publishing. “Working with Hebei University of Technology allows us to publish a journal that not only advances an important field of research but also embodies our shared commitment to open science and the free exchange of knowledge.”
Harmonics and Scattering will publish original, high-impact research articles and comprehensive reviews in the fields of scattering technology, harmonic generation, and their interdisciplinary applications across photonic devices, high-energy physics, spectroscopy, and materials science. The journal seeks to illuminate the fundamental principles of light–matter interaction while fostering innovations that shape the technologies of tomorrow.
