The NIH’s updated Public Access Policy — effective July 1, 2025 — requires that all NIH-funded research be made immediately available in PubMed Central (PMC) upon publication. At AIP Publishing, we’re committed to helping researchers meet this requirement with ease, clarity, and no added cost.
Our Green Open Access (OA) policy already enables authors to self-archive their Accepted Author Manuscript (AAM) immediately upon acceptance. This means authors can post their AAMs in repositories like PMC without embargo — a free, funder-compliant path to public access.
For our Gold OA journals, we’ll continue to deposit NIH-funded articles into PMC on behalf of authors, with public access upon publication and PMCIDs provided as usual. For hybrid subscription journals, authors can deposit their AAMs via the NIH Manuscript Submission System (NIHMS). AIP Publishing will support authors with clear guidance to ensure compliance.
Whether you publish in a fully OA or hybrid journal, you’ll remain compliant — and your research will reach a broader audience, faster.
